Yes, we know we've been away for a while, but hey - we're back and better than before! Can't complain about that now can you? So which major event
has made us get our act together again? Well it's this years Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival at Harrogate. It's the biggest and best writing festival
of the year
and one you definately don't want to miss. This year's festival is bound to be even better than normal if only because it's being run by new chair Simon Kernick,
who has put together
a steller line-up including one our our personal favourite writers - Jo Nesbo. We also highly recommend that if you are at the festival, make sure you hang
around and
attend the quiz night on the closing night. Trust us, it's the best night out you'll have all year. You can then sooth your hangover the following day
with a trip
to the delightful and thoroughly fabulous Betty's Tea Rooms.
Coinciding with the festival is the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year 2008. The longlist has just been announced (see below for a full list)
and
it doesn't dissapoint. You can vote for your favourite by going to www.waterstones.com before the 17th June (We've already cast our vote for Relentless).
The shortlist will be announced on the 26th of June
with the winner being revealed on the 17th of July at the opening night of the festival.
